Description

  • Design full-course elementary literacy curricula, including scope and sequence, unit plans, and daily lesson plans.
  • Develop student-facing lessons, text-based activities, writing prompts, discussion protocols, projects, assessments, and rubrics.
  • Curate and develop diverse text sets that reflect multiple perspectives and lived experiences.
  • Ensure curriculum alignment to New York State standards and Zeta’s academic vision and outcomes.
  • Embed explicit instruction in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical analysis.
  • Design performance-based assessments that measure content knowledge and transferable skills.
  • Collaborate with academic leaders, instructional coaches, and other curriculum writers to ensure coherence and alignment.
  • Iterate on curriculum based on educator feedback, student work, and assessment data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • At least 3 years of teaching or leadership experience in literacy is required.
  • Experience working on elementary school literacy curriculum development is required.
  • Ability to work as a 1099 independent contractor for a 12-month project-based engagement.
  • Permanent authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • Comfort collaborating remotely or in person based on project needs.
  • Experience aligning instructional materials to state standards is preferred.
  • Experience designing assessments, rubrics, and text-based learning materials is preferred.

Benefits

  • Compensation of $15,000 to $25,000 per project unit, depending on experience and project scope.
  • Flexible work schedule with deadlines and deliverables agreed upon with the project lead.
  • Remote or in-person collaboration, depending on project needs.
  • 12-month project-based consulting engagement with an immediate start date.
