Description

  • Analyze merchant applications by reviewing risk scores, products, and policy compliance.
  • Investigate high-risk merchant account activity to reduce fraud and reputational losses.
  • Monitor current merchant partners to identify behaviors that could negatively impact Sezzle or its customers.
  • Decline unsuitable merchants during the application process.
  • Write and execute MySQL queries to analyze merchant information and performance metrics.
  • Assess merchant reputational risk using customer NPS reviews.
  • Serve as a mediator between Merchant Success and Support teams on merchant risk issues.
  • Recommend improvements to management on how to scale and streamline risk processes.
  • Improve the merchant fraud detection framework and internal tools.
  • Collaborate independently and cross-functionally on projects to refine approval methods, policies, and automation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in risk management, fraud, or financial crime prevention operations.
  • Experience analyzing data and making decisions in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment.
  • Work experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong business judgment and communication skills.
  • Ability to self-start and work with minimal supervision after training.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Claude or equivalent large language model tools is required.
  • 2+ years of analytical experience in merchant/business fraud and credit risk management, fraud, or financial crime prevention operations in e-commerce, banking, fintech, or financial institutions is preferred.
  • Ability to start within two weeks following an offer is preferred.

Benefits

  • $1,800 - $2,000 USD gross monthly compensation as a contractor.
  • Potential for exceptional candidates to receive compensation outside the posted range.
  • Full-time Tuesday through Saturday schedule, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm Central Time.
