Description

  • Oversee construction activities across civil works, equipment installation, and commissioning at a remote brownfield diesel power generation facility.
  • Lead on-site contractor coordination and ensure compliance with client procedures, safety policies, and safe work practices.
  • Review, implement, and update project safety plans and risk assessments with contractors.
  • Manage and coordinate testing and commissioning activities.
  • Verify that construction materials are delivered complete and compliant with approved designs and specifications.
  • Track construction progress, manage changes, and resolve deficiencies during project delivery.
  • Prepare daily site reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
  • Participate in daily tailboard meetings and support incident reporting and follow-up.
  • Communicate regularly with contractors, plant operations, the project manager, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve site issues.
  • Support site logistics, including charter flight planning, and assist with minor site or camp maintenance as required.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Technology, a relevant trade certification, apprenticeship courses, or equivalent working experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of construction or site monitoring experience, preferably in remote or industrial environments.
  • Strong experience in contractor coordination and construction oversight.
  • Proven ability to enforce safety procedures and implement project safety plans and risk assessments.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements, including WSCC Supervisor OHS Familiarization.
  • Valid First Aid certification.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Effective communication skills with contractors and project stakeholders, with advanced English skills in written and spoken form.
  • Experience with daily reporting and site documentation.
  • Ability to work extended hours, up to 12 hours per day and 7 days per week, in remote site conditions and adverse weather, including at heights or underground.
  • Comfortable working in remote Northwest Territories locations, including camp-based or rotational settings.
  • Willingness to complete required safety and work protection training after hire.
