Description

  • Lead project discovery by conducting stakeholder interviews, analyzing research, and translating findings into actionable design direction.
  • Assess qualitative and quantitative data to develop recommendations that balance user needs and business goals.
  • Conduct UX, content, and design audits and present findings to internal teams and clients.
  • Conduct user research and testing, then synthesize insights into design decisions.
  • Develop information architecture, navigation, sitemap strategy, content audits, gap analysis, tone, voice, and taxonomy guidance.
  • Create wireframes, page templates, interactive prototypes, full-fidelity visual comps, and responsive design systems.
  • Produce UI component libraries and other strategy and design artifacts for client projects.
  • Present design recommendations clearly to clients and internal teams and help them make informed decisions.
  • Serve as a senior creative voice in sales conversations, pre-sales discovery, proposals, estimates, scopes, and project approaches.
  • Contribute to marketing and thought leadership content such as webinars, blog posts, case studies, conference ideas, and educational content.

Requirements

  • Senior-level, hands-on UX/UI design experience for complex, content-rich websites.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating the process from discovery and strategy through high-fidelity visual design.
  • Strong visual design craft, including layout, typography, hierarchy, brand application, responsive design, and accessible UI patterns.
  • Advanced Figma skills, including prototyping, design systems, component workflows, and client-ready presentation files.
  • Advanced knowledge of UX strategy, content strategy, information architecture, and content experience principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in a creative agency environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for designers, developers, and clients.
  • A collaborative approach to solving complex creative and strategic challenges.
  • Coding experience is a nice to have.
  • Working knowledge of WordPress and/or Drupal is a nice to have.
  • Experience in higher education, mission-driven, or healthcare sectors is a nice to have.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and reside in British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon, or the Northwest Territories.
  • Must be available for regular collaboration during Pacific Time business hours.
  • This is an independent contractor engagement with project-based work and no guaranteed minimum hours.
