Description

  • Lead project discovery by conducting stakeholder interviews and translating research and client input into actionable design direction.
  • Assess qualitative and quantitative data to develop recommendations that balance user and business goals.
  • Conduct UX, content, and design audits and communicate findings to internal and client teams.
  • Synthesize user research and testing into actionable insights.
  • Develop information architecture, navigation, sitemap strategy, and content strategy.
  • Conduct content audits and gap analysis, and define tone, voice, and taxonomies to guide content creation.
  • Create wireframes, page templates, interactive prototypes, full-fidelity visual comps, and responsive UI systems.
  • Present design thinking and recommendations clearly to clients and internal teams.
  • Act as a senior creative voice in sales conversations and pre-sales discovery.
  • Contribute design and strategy input to proposals, estimates, scopes, project approaches, and thought leadership content.

Requirements

  • Senior-level, hands-on UX/UI design experience for complex, content-rich websites.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating work from discovery and strategy through high-fidelity visual design.
  • Strong visual design craft, including layout, typography, hierarchy, brand application, responsive design, and accessible UI patterns.
  • Advanced Figma skills, including prototyping, design systems, component workflows, and client-ready presentation files.
  • Advanced knowledge of UX strategy, content strategy, information architecture, and content experience principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in a creative agency environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to tailor messages for designers, developers, and clients.
  • A collaborative approach to solving complex creative and strategic challenges.
  • Coding experience (nice to have).
  • Working knowledge of WordPress and/or Drupal (nice to have).
  • Experience in higher education, mission-driven, or healthcare sectors (nice to have).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada and reside in British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon, or the Northwest Territories.
  • Must be available for regular collaboration during Pacific Time business hours.
  • This is an independent contractor engagement with project-based work and no guaranteed minimum hours.
  • Expected hourly rate is $50-$70 CAD, with the top of the range firm and non-negotiable.
