Description

  • Conduct recipient field surveys by phone and review responses to identify difficulties, fraud, theft, scams, and other risks related to cash transfers.
  • Use Aidkit, Salesforce, and other internal systems to track incidents, maintain notes, and update case records in real time.
  • Report discovered cases, provide regular briefs, and prepare weekly reports on cases, observations, and outcomes.
  • Support follow-up survey drafting, analyze survey effectiveness, and recommend changes for specific programs.
  • Escalate complaints and difficult cases according to established protocols and help manage next steps with supervisors.
  • Support field operations work such as planning, risk assessment, community mobilization, sensitization, and recipient protection.
  • Research social media to investigate flagged imposters and scammers targeting applicants and programs.
  • Collaborate with the operations team and internal audit associate on escalated cases and field follow-up.
  • Provide confidential and discreet support while working within a firewalled safeguarding team.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in English is required; additional language fluency is a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience working with vulnerable communities.
  • Strong interpersonal, active listening, and investigative interview skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with discretion and good judgment when handling sensitive information.
  • Technological literacy and ability to accurately record recipient details using a smartphone, tablet, or computer.
  • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Empathy, honesty, high integrity, and emotional intelligence.
  • Strong interest in GiveDirectly’s mission and values.
  • Ability to travel 1-2 times per year for team retreats or field visits, less than 5% travel.
  • Experience with low-income or historically marginalized communities is strongly encouraged.

  • Base salary of $66,200 per year in the United States.
  • Total compensation targeted around the 75th percentile, including bonus.
