Description

  • Guide students and families through the full college admissions process from planning to application submission.
  • Create individualized admissions plans covering course selection, academic interests, extracurricular activities, and summer programs.
  • Review student profiles, curriculums, internship options, and extracurricular involvement to strengthen applications.
  • Advise on application timelines and strategies for Early Decision, Restrictive Early Action, Early Action, and Regular Decision.
  • Help students differentiate their applications and build compelling portfolios.
  • Support families with financial aid, scholarship options, and other aid-related guidance.
  • Conduct ongoing research on schools, course catalogs, academic programs, and admissions landscapes to support student needs.
  • Mentor students and communicate with families throughout the admissions process.
  • Collaborate with the admissions team to create a structured playbook for each family.
  • Work in a flexible, autonomous contract setting with responsibility for managing your own schedule.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an admissions officer/reader at a selective college, high school counselor, independent counselor, or college counseling professional in a business setting.
  • Thorough understanding of high school curricula, AP, IB, ACT, SAT, and other standardized tests.
  • Experience working with students in grades 7-12, transfer applicants, and private/boarding school applicants.
  • Proven track record of helping students succeed across a variety of academic programs, including direct med, engineering, and other specialized tracks.
  • Experience with athletic recruitment and other specialized admissions endeavors.
  • Excellent writing skills and strong understanding of the current admissions landscape.
  • Knowledge of public, private, charter, and boarding school environments.
  • Expert knowledge of Naviance, Scoir, Common App, Coalition App, Apply Texas, and school-specific application platforms.
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills to guide families and mentor students.
  • Proficient with technology and able to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment with high autonomy.
  • Preferred: M.Ed. or Ph.D. in education.
