Description

  • Collaborate with combat, systems, narrative, art, engineering, audio, and production teams to support the game’s creative vision and gameplay pillars.
  • Own levels end-to-end, from layouts and blockouts through implementation, iteration, and polish.
  • Design combat spaces and encounters supporting varied enemies, character builds, abilities, positioning, and playstyles.
  • Create exploration through optional paths, secrets, environmental storytelling, and meaningful rewards while maintaining clear navigation.
  • Script and implement gameplay events, objectives, triggers, encounters, and environmental interactions in-engine.
  • Test, debug, and iterate on levels using playtest feedback to improve pacing, difficulty, readability, combat flow, and replayability.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of game development experience, including significant level design experience on action, RPG, or combat-focused games.
  • Experience shipping multiple titles, including at least one in a senior or equivalent level design role.
  • Ability to independently own complex levels from concept and blockout through implementation, iteration, and final polish.
  • Strong understanding of action RPG level design, including combat spaces, encounter pacing, exploration, progression, player guidance, and replayability.
  • Hands-on experience with level editing, gameplay scripting, and in-engine implementation, including rapid prototyping, debugging, and iteration.
  • Strong design judgment, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to balance creative, technical, and production considerations.
  • Experience with isometric or elevated-camera level design is preferred.
  • Experience creating replayable, procedural, modular, dungeon, or interconnected gameplay spaces is preferred.
  • Eligible to work in Canada and currently residing in Canada.
  • Passion for action RPGs involving combat, character builds, loot, progression, and exploration is preferred.
