Description

  • Serve as the primary linguistic liaison for the Japanese language team.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize style guides, glossaries, and linguistic instructions.
  • Oversee linguistic quality management, including quality reviews and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Manage linguistic queries and provide expert guidance to translators, reviewers, and project stakeholders.
  • Lead, mentor, and coordinate a remote team of freelance translators, editors, and LQA testers.
  • Provide constructive linguistic feedback, onboarding support, and ongoing training to freelance linguists.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and client stakeholders to streamline localization workflows and resolve linguistic or technical challenges.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on linguistic quality metrics, resource performance, and delivery timelines.
  • Ensure translated content reflects the client’s brand voice and meets linguistic and cultural expectations for the target audience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in the translation/localization industry.
  • At least 2+ years of experience as a Language Lead, Reviewer, or LQA Specialist.
  • Strong background translating hospitality, hotel, tourism, and marketing content.
  • Native fluency in Japanese with professional command of source English.
  • Current residence and work eligibility in Japan with a reliable remote setup.
  • Deep proficiency with translation management systems and CAT tools such as Trados Studio, Phrase, and memoQ.
  • Experience with automated quality assurance tools such as Xbench.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage concurrent pipelines and tight release schedules.
