Description

  • Translate patent-related content from Japanese into English while preserving the original meaning and ensuring readability for the target audience.
  • Proofread and review patent translations for quality and accuracy.
  • Follow client instructions related to the translation process and CAT tool usage.
  • Communicate effectively in English and respond promptly to project needs.
  • Work on patent content in the assigned subject areas, including electricity, computer science, mechanics, and medical devices.
  • Meet expected weekly translation volumes of approximately 2,500 to 5,000 words.
  • Use XTM as the CAT tool for assigned projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience translating and reviewing content in patent fields.
  • Native fluency in English, the target language.
  • Degree in linguistics, translation, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to translate, copy edit, and perform MTPE.
  • Strong experience translating and proofreading patents in electricity, computer science, mechanics, or medical devices is preferred.
  • Immediate availability and ability to start ASAP.
  • Experience working with CAT tools, specifically XTM, is required or strongly preferred.
  • Freelance availability for remote work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and respond promptly.
