Description

  • Translate legal content from English into Japanese while preserving the original meaning and readability for the target audience.
  • Proofread and review legal translations to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Follow translation workflows, including CAT tool usage and other project instructions.
  • Communicate effectively in English and respond promptly to project-related requests.
  • Adhere to formatting and content constraints such as character restrictions and terminology requirements.
  • Use translation and terminology tools as part of the localization process.
  • Provide rationale for translation choices when needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience translating and reviewing content in the legal subject matter.
  • Native fluency in Japanese.
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
  • Degree in linguistics, translation, or equivalent legal translation experience.
  • Proficiency with translation and terminology tools.
  • Ability to follow instructions, including translation process guidelines and character restrictions.
  • Experience working with CAT tools; XTM is specified for this role.
  • Immediate availability to start ASAP.
  • Ability to communicate effectively the rationale behind translation decisions.
