Description

  • Own end-to-end platform architecture across backend, frontend, data, AI/ML, and real-time systems.
  • Set engineering standards for code quality, testing, observability, security, reliability, and operational excellence.
  • Design, build, and ship high-performance services and features from database to UI, including rapid prototypes.
  • Personally address high-risk, high-impact challenges involving live video reliability, real-time engagement, commerce integrations, and AI-powered experiences.
  • Architect globally available systems for uptime, low latency, cost efficiency, and graceful degradation during peak live events.
  • Evolve the technology stack, including React, Angular, Node.js, TypeScript, GCP, Firebase, BigQuery, and Pub/Sub.
  • Partner with Product, Design, and Data on product delivery, experimentation infrastructure, and A/B testing.
  • Represent engineering with strategic customers and partners and incorporate customer needs into architectural decisions.
  • Mentor engineers and strengthen the organization through design reviews, technical writing, and hiring.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including staff- or principal-level leadership at high-scale products.
  • Expert-level Node.js and TypeScript experience.
  • Strong frontend experience with React and/or Angular; experience with both is a significant plus.
  • Deep experience designing and operating distributed, real-time production systems running 24/7 under load.
  • Strong data engineering knowledge of SQL/NoSQL, event-driven architecture, and analytical stores such as BigQuery or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience shipping production AI/ML features, such as personalization, recommendations, search, or generative AI.
  • Experience with GCP services, including Firebase, Cloud Functions, Firestore, Realtime Database, and Pub/Sub, is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Shopify or WooCommerce and/or live video and streaming infrastructure is preferred.
  • Deep experience in at least one of eCommerce, marketing, or media, with working fluency across the other two.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
