Description

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable FastAPI services and RESTful APIs across authentication, scheduling, payments, insurance, messaging, and clinical workflows.
  • Build secure, well-documented APIs for AI consumption and internal production use.
  • Contribute to member-facing web features using TypeScript, React, and Next.js, and support iOS and Android teams with API contracts and integration debugging.
  • Architect PostgreSQL schemas, write Alembic migrations, and optimize SQL queries and database performance.
  • Use Redis, Celery, and RabbitMQ to implement asynchronous workflows for webhooks, notifications, and background processing.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and debug production systems using Datadog and Sentry.
  • Write backend and frontend tests using pytest and related tooling.
  • Update and maintain Playwright end-to-end tests when product flows change.
  • Contribute to GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and safe deployments.
  • Work across core backend domains such as Clinical Systems & EMR, Identity & Access, Financial Operations, or Patient Interaction.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of production Python backend experience with FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
  • Experience designing RESTful APIs for direct-to-consumer web and mobile applications.
  • Deep experience in at least one of the following: payment systems with Stripe, authentication/registration with OAuth or JWT, or healthcare integrations with EMR/EHR/FHIR.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL on RDS or Aurora, including schema design and SQLAlchemy/Alembic.
  • Experience with message brokers and async task systems such as Redis, RabbitMQ, and Celery.
  • Proficiency with Datadog and Sentry for application performance monitoring and production debugging.
  • Experience with TypeScript, React, and Next.js, with the ability to ship production web UI.
  • Fundamentals of secure auth patterns and secrets management.
  • Experience with HIPAA, PHI, or FHIR is preferred.
  • Experience with Terraform or AWS CDK is highly valued.
  • Experience designing APIs for AI agent consumption and reliability at scale is preferred.
  • Experience with AWS ECS and core AWS services such as VPC, S3, and IAM is preferred.
  • Experience with Kubernetes or Docker is preferred.
  • Experience with Playwright or Cypress for end-to-end testing is preferred.
  • Experience with Kafka, streaming systems, or OpenSearch/Elasticsearch integrations is preferred.

Benefits

  • Working hours are 9 AM to 5 PM.
  • 2 weeks of PTO plus U.S. holidays.
  • Monthly salary of $6,500 USD.
  • Independent contractor arrangement.
  • Open only to candidates residing in LATAM countries.
