Description

  • Lead end-to-end pharmacy strategy work, including planning, cadence, team coordination, and decision tracking.
  • Develop pharmacy cost-driver frameworks, intervention evidence grids, and option scorecards to support executive decisions.
  • Partner with analytics and finance to size initiatives and link projected savings to total cost of care and performance guarantees.
  • Analyze carriers, PBMs, navigation companies, health systems, and emerging solutions for offerings, effectiveness, and pricing.
  • Monitor pharmacy market, policy, and drug pipeline developments, including biosimilars, specialty drugs, cell and gene therapies, PBM reform, and drug-pricing policy.
  • Conduct expert-network calls and gather client and benefits-consultant feedback on market needs.
  • Create competitor heat maps, market briefs, and executive-ready materials.
  • Build the pharmacy fact base and help executive leadership understand key pharmacy economics and strategic options.
  • Coordinate cross-functional contributors, including clinical, data, finance, actuarial, legal, and client-relations partners.
  • Use and validate AI research tools for landscape analysis, evidence tables, and draft materials.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of healthcare strategy experience, including at least 3 years in pharmacy benefits, PBM, payer, or benefits consulting.
  • Experience leading strategy consulting or internal strategy engagements from research through executive decisions under tight deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of PBM economics, including rebates, spread versus pass-through pricing, specialty pharmacy, and medical versus pharmacy benefit drugs.
  • Experience conducting market and competitive intelligence, including primary research, expert interviews, competitor profiles, and synthesis.
  • Comfort with claims data and financial models, including building or directing initiative-sizing models with finance.
  • Strong, concise writing and presentation skills for C-suite audiences.
  • Experience at a carrier, PBM, transparent PBM, navigation company, or benefits consultancy such as Mercer, Aon, or WTW (preferred).
  • Established network of pharmacy and benefits experts (preferred).
  • Knowledge of specialty-drug pipelines, biosimilars, GLP-1 policy, and gene-therapy financing (preferred).
  • Experience with self-funded employer clients, performance guarantees, or an MBA, MPH, PharmD, or similar advanced degree (preferred).
