Description

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, cash management, and accounting systems.
  • Own the monthly close process and deliver accurate financial statements, reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain financial policies, processes, and internal controls that protect company assets and improve accuracy.
  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, expenses, margins, and financial commitments while identifying risks early.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements, regulatory filings, and reporting obligations.
  • Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and financial partners on year-end and audit requirements.
  • Maintain forecasts, support annual budgeting, and compare actual performance against budget and forecast.
  • Translate financial results into actionable insights and advise leadership on the financial impact of business decisions.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify processes, reduce costs, improve margins, and strengthen operational efficiency.
  • Lead, coach, and support the Finance team while establishing clear accountabilities and dependable workflows.

Requirements

  • CPA designation required.
  • Proven experience as a Controller or in a similar role, preferably in physical products, ecommerce, or retail.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Proficiency with NetSuite or a similar large ERP and other financial software systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Strong leadership ability, including experience motivating and developing a small team.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability and desire to drive projects forward in a continuous-improvement environment.
  • Comfort working in a part-time, fractional, or contract arrangement with consistent engagement.
  • Interest in circular economies and alignment with the company’s community, creativity, courage, and consciousness values.

  • 12-month contract opportunity based in Kelowna, BC, or remotely from Canada’s West Coast.
  • Flexible engagement structure, including part-time employment or fractional/contract partnership.
  • Compensation range of $85,000–$120,000, dependent on hours agreement.
