Description

  • Provide expert advisory support to alternative asset firm and family office clients.
  • Review current accounting and finance practices and recommend best-practice improvements.
  • Develop realistic action plans and break goals into executable steps.
  • Advise on vendor selection and oversight.
  • Create and implement accounting policies, procedures, and control measures.
  • Evaluate client progress using KPIs and scoring matrices.
  • Maintain financial records in coordination with the CFO and external accounting firm.
  • Oversee payroll processing to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage the month-end close process with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare and support financial statements, shareholder reports, tax returns, and regulatory filings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CPA designation or advanced degree (MBA, etc.) preferred.
  • 6+ years of prior experience as a Controller for an alternative asset firm or family office.
  • 4+ years of experience in a financial or accounting role with an alternative asset firm, family office, or Big 4 accounting firm.
  • Strong experience with cash and working capital management and forecasting.
  • Strong technical accounting, GAAP accounting, and management reporting experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with accounting software or financial applications such as QuickBooks.
  • In-depth understanding of financial instruments, investment types, vehicle structures, asset classes, tax regulations, and financial covenants.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and supervisory skills.
