Description

  • Conduct best-practice reviews and develop actionable improvement plans.
  • Advise clients on vendor selection, oversight, policies, procedures, and financial controls.
  • Assess progress toward client goals using KPIs and scoring matrices.
  • Maintain financial records and prepare financial statements, shareholder reports, tax returns, and regulatory reports in partnership with the CFO and external accountants.
  • Oversee payroll processing to ensure accurate and timely payment of salaries, benefits, taxes, garnishments, and deductions.
  • Manage month-end close activities across finance, external accounting, and internal teams.
  • Improve the efficiency, timeliness, and quality of financial reporting through financial-data analysis.
  • Manage accounts receivable and payable, including collections and invoice payments.
  • Provide leadership reporting on budget versus actuals, cash balances, liquidity forecasts, variances, trends, and deficiencies.
  • Lead audit, tax, and SEC or other regulatory reporting processes and support special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience as a Controller for an alternative asset firm or family office.
  • 4+ years of financial or accounting experience with an alternative asset firm, family office, or Big 4 accounting firm.
  • Extensive experience in cash and working-capital management, forecasting, technical accounting, GAAP, and management reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel and accounting or financial software such as QuickBooks.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial instruments, investment types, vehicle structures, asset classes, tax regulations, and financial covenants.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, prioritization, management, and supervisory abilities.
  • CPA designation or advanced degree, such as an MBA, preferred.
  • Prior hands-on experience supporting a CFO in day-to-day accounting and finance operations.
