Description

  • Architect, deploy, and operate middleware platforms across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Design and govern event-driven and message-driven integration patterns such as pub/sub, competing consumers, dead-letter handling, saga/choreography, and request-reply.
  • Lead performance engineering and tuning for RabbitMQ, Redis, and Azure Service Bus.
  • Define and enforce standards for message schemas, versioning, serialization, and compatibility.
  • Implement high availability and disaster recovery capabilities for middleware platforms.
  • Establish end-to-end observability using tracing, metrics, dashboards, and alerting.
  • Collaborate with development, DevOps, and cloud architecture teams to review integration designs before release.
  • Own middleware security controls including TLS, certificates, RBAC/ACLs, Managed Identity authentication, and secrets management.
  • Drive Infrastructure-as-Code adoption and support CI/CD automation for middleware provisioning and testing.
  • Lead incident response, post-incident reviews, documentation, and mentoring for engineering teams.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of software engineering or platform engineering experience, including 4+ years focused on middleware and integration platforms.
  • Senior-level production experience with RabbitMQ, Redis, and Azure Service Bus.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts including eventual consistency, idempotency, delivery guarantees, and the two-generals problem.
  • Experience designing event-driven microservices architectures and integration patterns.
  • Proficiency in at least one primary integration language: C# (.NET), Java/Kotlin, Python, or Go.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration tools for middleware workloads.
  • Experience using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or Ansible.
  • Strong observability skills with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, and structured logging.
  • Experience securing middleware with TLS/mTLS, certificate rotation, and secrets management tools such as Azure Key Vault or HashiCorp Vault.
  • Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, produce architecture documentation, and mentor engineers.
  • Expert knowledge of AMQP 0-9-1, RabbitMQ exchanges, bindings, queues, and routing topologies.
  • Experience with RabbitMQ quorum queues, lazy queues, stream queues, clustering, federation, and shovels.
  • Deep expertise in Redis data structures, Redis Streams, Redis Cluster, Redis Sentinel, and caching patterns.
  • Experience with Azure Service Bus queues, topics, subscriptions, sessions, dead-letter queues, and geo-disaster recovery.
  • Familiarity with Azure Event Grid, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, and APIM is preferred.
  • Experience with Apache Kafka or Azure Event Hubs is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Apache Camel, MuleSoft, or Azure Integration Services is desirable.
  • Microsoft certification AZ-204 or AZ-305 is desirable.
  • Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio, Linkerd, or Azure Service Mesh is desirable.
  • Exposure to CQRS, Event Sourcing, and the Outbox Pattern is desirable.
