Description

  • Assess the application’s New Relic dashboards, alerts, SLIs/SLOs, synthetic checks, logs, and traces.
  • Define the migration strategy and map New Relic components to Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, or equivalent tools.
  • Rebuild and validate Grafana dashboards and alerting to maintain or improve monitoring coverage.
  • Instrument the application and AWS infrastructure to send metrics, logs, and traces using OpenTelemetry where appropriate.
  • Configure and troubleshoot secure AWS connectivity, including VPC routing, security groups, endpoints or PrivateLink, and DNS.
  • Run both monitoring platforms in parallel, validate data accuracy, and execute a low-risk production cutover.
  • Integrate and tune alerting with incident response and notification channels.
  • Use AI-assisted tools such as Codex to accelerate query translation, dashboard creation, infrastructure-as-code, and documentation.
  • Document the new monitoring setup, create runbooks, hand over knowledge, and provide progress updates and risk reporting.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of DevOps, SRE, or observability engineering experience in a high-traffic cloud production environment.
  • Strong hands-on Grafana experience, including dashboards, alerting, and data source configuration.
  • Practical New Relic experience with APM, dashboards, NRQL, and alert policies.
  • Experience with Prometheus/PromQL, Loki, Tempo or ELK, and OpenTelemetry.
  • Hands-on AWS experience with EC2, EKS/ECS, IAM, CloudWatch, S3, and Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform.
  • Strong AWS networking knowledge covering VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, load balancers, endpoints or PrivateLink, and Route 53.
  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as Codex.
  • Ability to work independently, start on short notice, and deliver within a tight timeline.
  • Full-time availability Monday through Friday during Canadian time zone hours.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Experience with Grafana Cloud or Grafana Mimir, observability migrations, SLIs/SLOs, and error budgets is preferred.
  • AWS certification such as Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or Advanced Networking is preferred.
