Description

  • Lead planning for complex exploration projects and moderate-scale development programs, including drilling campaigns, electromagnetic surveys, and reconnaissance programs.
  • Own execution of 1–3 concurrent field projects across Sweden and potentially other Nordic or European jurisdictions.
  • Lead procurement activities, including contractor selection, bid evaluation, benchmarking, and contract administration.
  • Develop project-specific risk assessments, hazard identification, mitigation plans, and critical control measures, especially for winter construction conditions.
  • Lead project kick-offs with integrated teams and contractors, covering scope, execution strategy, and risk management.
  • Track production rates, spend profiles, and resource requirements during field execution.
  • Manage contractor performance and provide feedback for improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead site remediation, rehabilitation, contractor performance reviews, and lessons learned at project closeout.
  • Ensure compliance with Swedish mining and environmental legislation, EU regulations, permitting, land access, and joint venture requirements.
  • Represent KoBold with local stakeholders, including communities, landowners, municipal authorities, and environmental bodies.
  • Mentor Field Operations Supervisors and help improve ways of working for dynamic, machine-learning-driven field programs.

Requirements

  • At least 12 years of experience in mineral exploration, mining, oil and gas, or a related field operations role with increasing responsibility.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction methodology, including winter and frozen-ground construction such as tracks, pads, and ice roads.
  • Advanced understanding of helicopter-supported exploration, including utilization optimization and emergency response.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, including RFP development, bid evaluation, and contract administration.
  • Strong understanding of rehabilitation and closure planning.
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety standards, including incident management, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Strong conceptual knowledge of HSE, Land and Permitting, Legal, and Business Development systems as applied to exploration projects.
  • Ability to manage staff and contractors on complex and higher-risk field programs.
  • Ability to design field programs, including scope, cost estimates, risk assessments, procurement, and execution plans.
  • Ability to prepare complete deliverables and synthesize findings for integrated teams and leadership.
  • Ability to work in remote, isolated locations for extended periods, including Swedish Norrbotten and other Nordic environments.
  • High degree of independence and ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Fluency in Swedish and English, spoken and written; additional language skills are a plus.
  • Valid First Aid Certification, with Level 3 or Wilderness First Aid preferred.
  • Subject matter expertise across at least two operation types, such as drilling, EM surveys, or civil works, preferred.
  • Material understanding of data science products such as catchment analyses, preferred.
  • Experience with Swedish and/or Nordic regulatory frameworks governing exploration operations, preferred.
  • Experience working with both Geologists and Data Scientists on exploration projects, preferred.
  • Familiarity with project management principles and remote multi-jurisdiction project delivery, preferred.
  • Experience with complex cold-weather remote logistics, including helicopter, weather, camps, chartered flights, and drilling, preferred.
  • Finnish or other Nordic language skills are an asset.
