Description

  • Design, build, and maintain live video playback features for iOS and tvOS applications.
  • Optimize HLS playback with AVPlayer for startup time, buffering, latency, live-edge behavior, and stability.
  • Troubleshoot playback errors, stalls, latency issues, and drift in live-streaming environments.
  • Use video analytics and QoE metrics to diagnose issues and improve playback performance at scale.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product, Project Management, and Backend Technology Services teams.
  • Lead efforts involving performance, scalability, security, architecture, and engineering best practices.
  • Track and prioritize tasks across team members and provide technical specifications and documentation.
  • Develop responsive video-player interfaces and integrations for Apple TV, iPad, and iPhone.
  • Deliver software using Agile methodologies and stay current with mobile and streaming technologies.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of iOS development experience with strong Swift and Objective-C expertise.
  • Experience building and maintaining video players or live-playback components for iOS and tvOS.
  • Hands-on experience with HLS, AVPlayer, live-streaming latency, live edge, drift, ABR, and DRM integration.
  • Demonstrated ability to debug and optimize rebuffering, startup time, and playback stability.
  • Experience with video analytics or QoE platforms such as Mux or Conviva.
  • Experience with Xcode, RESTful APIs, unit testing, and end-to-end testing.
  • Proficiency with Git, SVN, Jenkins, Docker, and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience building video playback components, responsive interfaces, metadata handling, and third-party integrations.
  • Experience leading a mobile application team in a technology-driven environment.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent; UML experience is a plus.
  • Strong technical documentation, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with large-scale sports streaming environments or live-streaming ad technology is preferred.
