Description

  • Identify appropriate civil engineering simulation packages and design problems that depend on those tools' core capabilities.
  • Develop complete Python-based solutions, including input files, geometry definitions, and boundary conditions.
  • Define target numerical outputs and acceptable error tolerances for each problem.
  • Run tasks against AI models across multiple parallel attempts and analyze success and failure patterns.
  • Adjust problem difficulty to achieve a 10% to 30% pass rate.
  • Iteratively tune load cases, boundary conditions, and solver parameters for complex simulation tasks.
  • Hand off completed tasks to a senior reviewer and revise work based on feedback before final submission.

Requirements

  • Academic background in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in engineering research, applied work, or teaching.
  • Strong Python skills for writing and validating computational solutions.
  • Ability to create problems that require specialized simulation software to solve.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of civil engineering tools such as OpenSeesPy, CalculiX, YADE, or bempp-cl, or the ability to learn them quickly.
  • Prior exposure to how frontier AI models approach complex simulation tasks (preferred).
  • Knowledge across multiple engineering domains, such as structural analysis, geotechnical modeling, or boundary element methods (preferred).
  • Familiarity with containerized or sandboxed Linux execution environments (preferred).
