Description

  • Design full-course Middle School English curricula, including scope and sequence, unit plans, and daily lesson plans.
  • Develop student-facing lessons, text-based activities, writing prompts, discussion protocols, projects, assessments, and rubrics.
  • Curate and develop diverse, high-quality text sets that reflect multiple perspectives and lived experiences.
  • Ensure curriculum alignment to New York State standards and Zeta’s academic vision and outcomes.
  • Embed explicit instruction in literacy skills, including reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical analysis.
  • Design performance-based assessments that measure both content knowledge and transferable skills.
  • Collaborate with academic leaders, instructional coaches, and other curriculum writers to ensure alignment and coherence.
  • Iterate on curriculum based on educator feedback, student work, and assessment data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience designing and/or teaching high-quality secondary humanities instruction.
  • Proven record of developing rigorous, engaging, and culturally responsive curriculum.
  • Must have permanent authorization to work in the U.S.
  • This is a 12-month project-based consulting role with an immediate start date.
  • Role is offered as a 1099 independent contractor engagement.
  • Experience working collaboratively with academic leaders, instructional coaches, or curriculum teams is preferred.
  • Experience creating curriculum aligned to grade-level standards and New York State standards is preferred.

Benefits

  • Compensation of $15,000 to $25,000 per project unit, depending on experience and project scope.
  • Flexible work schedule with deliverables and deadlines agreed upon with the project lead.
  • Remote or in-person collaboration, depending on project needs.
