Description

  • Execute complex engineering assignments related to EMI, HIRF, LIRF, lightning, and electrostatics using similarity assessments, simulation, and analytical methods.
  • Support resolution of electromagnetic issues for EMC certification and sustaining activities in production and in-service aircraft.
  • Define scope of work, plan milestones, identify technical risks, and complete EMC tasks according to project priorities.
  • Analyze new or modified system and structure designs to assess engineering impacts and propose EMC compliance approaches.
  • Review technical documentation including test procedures, test reports, and analysis reports to verify certification compliance and recommend approval.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members and interns.
  • Support the creation and updating of technical requirements for EMI, HIRF, LIRF, lightning, and electrostatics.
  • Represent the EMC team in multidisciplinary meetings and engage with suppliers, partners, clients, and aircraft OEMs.
  • Support process improvements and best practices within Bombardier.
  • Support and witness EMC testing in Canada, the United States, Europe, or other locations as needed.
  • Prepare and review aircraft-level EMC test procedures, oversee testing, generate test reports, and prepare certification design compliance reports.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Sciences, or Physics.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in systems or structures EMC qualification/certification in the aerospace industry.
  • Experience with fuel tank ignition prevention is an asset.
  • In-depth knowledge of RTCA DO-160 and SAE ARPs.
  • High-level familiarity with TCCA, FAA, and EASA regulations and advisory materials related to EMI, HIRF, LIRF, lightning, and electrostatics.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across disciplines such as airworthiness and manufacturing.
  • Ability to work autonomously and deliver goals for the team and business division.
  • Recognized specialist in at least one aspect of EMC with broad knowledge across other EMC areas.
  • Experience participating in major project and design reviews and identifying technical, schedule, and budget risks.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; French is an asset.
  • Preferably participated in at least one green civil aircraft development program.
  • Good knowledge of the aviation business.
  • Experience with an aircraft OEM and/or aerospace supplier supporting EMC qualification, certification, and compliance activities is preferred.
  • Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement with periodic onsite presence as required.
