Description

  • Design and evolve backend systems for real-time collaborative document editing.
  • Own the content model and data persistence layer, including schema design, migrations, compatibility, and maintainability.
  • Build and maintain event-driven pipelines using Kafka and NATS to process frontend interactions and keep document state consistent.
  • Contribute to the reliability, observability, and operational excellence of a large fleet of Python microservices.
  • Ship product features end-to-end, from backend architecture through production monitoring.
  • Support AI-powered document capabilities, including agentic document workflows.
  • Work on systems that support tens of thousands of concurrent users.
  • Ensure the systems you build remain stable, performant, and reliable after release.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Python development experience in production environments.
  • Strong experience with relational databases, including SQL, schema design, migrations, and query optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with message queues and event-driven architectures such as Kafka, NATS, RabbitMQ, or similar.
  • Deep understanding of AsyncIO and concurrent systems.
  • Experience building and operating microservice architectures at scale.
  • Comfortable reasoning about distributed systems, including consistency, ordering, and failure modes.
  • Understanding of the full development lifecycle from requirements to deployment to production monitoring.
  • Nice-to-have experience building or integrating AI agents, LLM-powered workflows, or agentic systems.
  • Communicates effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with the stack, including PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and Grafana-based observability tools.
  • Active use of AI tools in your daily workflow with critical evaluation of their output.
