Description

  • Design and evolve backend systems for real-time collaborative document editing at scale.
  • Own the content model and data persistence layer, including schema design, migrations, compatibility, and maintainability.
  • Build and maintain event-driven pipelines that process frontend interactions and keep document state consistent across services.
  • Contribute to the reliability, observability, and operational excellence of a large fleet of Python microservices.
  • Ship product features end-to-end from backend architecture through production monitoring.
  • Support AI-powered document capabilities, including agentic workflows.
  • Work closely with product and engineering stakeholders to balance product delivery with system health and reliability.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Python development experience in production environments.
  • Strong experience with relational databases, including SQL, schema design, migrations, and query optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with message queues and event-driven architectures such as Kafka, NATS, RabbitMQ, or similar.
  • Deep understanding of AsyncIO and concurrent systems.
  • Experience building and operating microservice architectures at scale.
  • Comfort reasoning about distributed systems, including consistency, ordering, and failure modes.
  • Understanding of the full development lifecycle from requirements to deployment to production monitoring.
  • Nice to have: experience building or integrating AI agents, LLM-powered workflows, or agentic systems.
  • Communicates effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Actively uses AI tools in daily work and applies critical thinking to their output.
