Description

  • Assess the existing New Relic dashboards, alerts, SLIs/SLOs, synthetic checks, logs, and traces.
  • Define the migration strategy and map New Relic components to Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, or equivalent tools.
  • Rebuild and validate Grafana dashboards and alert rules.
  • Instrument the application and AWS infrastructure to send metrics, logs, and traces using OpenTelemetry where appropriate.
  • Configure and troubleshoot secure AWS networking, including VPC routing, security groups, VPC endpoints or PrivateLink, and DNS.
  • Run both monitoring platforms in parallel, validate data accuracy, and execute a low-risk production cutover.
  • Integrate and tune alerting with incident-management and notification channels.
  • Use AI-assisted tools such as Codex to accelerate query translation, dashboard creation, configuration-as-code, and documentation while validating outputs.
  • Document the new monitoring setup, create runbooks, transfer knowledge, and provide progress and risk updates.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of DevOps, SRE, or observability engineering experience, preferably in high-traffic cloud production environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Grafana dashboards, alerting, and data-source configuration.
  • Practical New Relic experience, including APM, dashboards, NRQL, and alert policies.
  • Experience with Prometheus/PromQL, Loki, Tempo or ELK, and OpenTelemetry instrumentation.
  • Strong AWS experience with EC2, EKS/ECS, IAM, CloudWatch, S3, and Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform.
  • Strong AWS networking knowledge covering VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, load balancers, VPC endpoints/PrivateLink, and Route 53.
  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as Codex.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver within a tight timeline.
  • Availability to work full-time Monday–Friday during Canadian time zone hours and start on short notice.
  • Excellent written and verbal English; Grafana Cloud/Mimir, observability migrations, SLI/SLOs, error budgets, or relevant AWS certification are preferred.
