Description

  • Shape pipelines and integrations for the RCT platform and foundational voter datasets.
  • Design and implement scalable data architecture for targeting and engagement.
  • Extend the data platform and orchestration layer to improve cost, runtime, and reliability.
  • Lead cross-system projects from scoping through delivery.
  • Validate your own work, review teammates' code, and mentor through code review.
  • Document systems and communicate clearly with teammates, stakeholders, and non-engineers.
  • Serve as a technical partner to program teams.
  • Load-test systems and support rapid response during election cycles, including on-call coverage evenings and weekends.
  • Maintain key datasets for polling images and precinct cross-matching.
  • Develop standardized experimental frameworks and AI tooling to improve team productivity.

Requirements

  • Passion for progressive politics and using data, technology, organizing, and research to build political power.
  • 3-6+ years of experience designing, building, and operating production data pipelines and integrations.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
  • Experience with a modern data stack, including cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery, dbt, and an orchestrator like Dagster or Airflow.
  • Experience leading technical work across multiple systems or teams and scoping ambiguous problems end-to-end.
  • Sound judgment about when to refactor, when to ship pragmatically, and how to improve systems over time.
  • Strong written communication and ability to explain complex systems to non-engineers.
  • Commitment to the mission of stopping fascism and building progressive power, with comfort operating on a political calendar.
  • Experience in the progressive, political, advocacy, or nonprofit sector, including awareness of c3/c4/PAC boundaries and voter-data sensitivities (preferred).
  • Familiarity with election results, voter file data, and campaign organizing/texting/contact tools (preferred).
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (preferred).
  • Experience with on-call rotations and mentoring less-experienced engineers (preferred).
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States; no sponsorship available.

  • Base salary of $90,000-$119,000.
  • $5,000 end-of-cycle bonus.
  • $2,100 work-life stipend in pre-tax dollars.
