Description

  • Manage end-to-end bookkeeping for a large New Zealand client.
  • Maintain accurate financial records using Xero.
  • Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, journals, and general ledger entries.
  • Complete bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare month-end bookkeeping procedures, management reports, and financial summaries.
  • Prepare and reconcile GST returns and support New Zealand compliance and IRD reporting.
  • Assist with financial statements, year-end accounting processes, and reporting deadlines.
  • Liaise with clients on bookkeeping queries and request supporting documentation.
  • Prepare complete bookkeeping files for review and work collaboratively with the Junior Accountant.
  • Identify discrepancies, resolve accounting issues, and improve bookkeeping processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of bookkeeping experience supporting New Zealand businesses.
  • Strong working knowledge of New Zealand GST requirements.
  • Advanced experience using Xero.
  • Experience preparing management reports and month-end reconciliations.
  • Excellent understanding of New Zealand bookkeeping and accounting principles.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Previous experience working within a New Zealand accounting practice (desirable).
  • Experience supporting multiple clients simultaneously (desirable).
  • Experience using Xero Practice Manager (desirable).
  • Understanding of payroll administration (desirable).
  • Accounting or bookkeeping qualifications (desirable).
