Description

Manage end-to-end bookkeeping for a large New Zealand client.
Maintain accurate financial records using Xero.
Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, journals, and general ledger entries.
Complete bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations.
Prepare month-end bookkeeping procedures, management reports, and financial summaries.
Prepare and reconcile GST returns and support New Zealand compliance and IRD reporting.
Assist with financial statements, year-end accounting processes, and reporting deadlines.
Liaise with clients on bookkeeping queries and request supporting documentation.
Prepare complete bookkeeping files for review and work collaboratively with the Junior Accountant.
Identify discrepancies, resolve accounting issues, and improve bookkeeping processes.

Requirements

Minimum 5+ years of bookkeeping experience supporting New Zealand businesses.
Strong working knowledge of New Zealand GST requirements.
Advanced experience using Xero.
Experience preparing management reports and month-end reconciliations.
Excellent understanding of New Zealand bookkeeping and accounting principles.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Ability to work independently while maintaining high-quality standards.
Previous experience working within a New Zealand accounting practice (desirable).
Experience supporting multiple clients simultaneously (desirable).
Experience using Xero Practice Manager (desirable).
Understanding of payroll administration (desirable).
Accounting or bookkeeping qualifications (desirable).

Salary of $1,500 - $2,200 NZD a month.
