Description

  • Provide expert operational advice to alternative asset firm and family office clients on a consulting basis.
  • Review current operating practices and identify best-practice improvements.
  • Develop realistic, effective action plans and break goals into actionable steps.
  • Advise on vendor selection and oversight.
  • Create and implement policies, procedures, and control measures.
  • Evaluate client progress using KPIs and scoring matrices.
  • Lead day-to-day operations oversight, including trade lifecycle management, accounting, recordkeeping, settlement, and issue resolution.
  • Hire, manage, mentor, and review assigned staff, including compensation recommendations.
  • Define performance objectives and development plans aligned to project and unit goals.
  • Oversee operations control, attestations, audits, reconciliations, and remediation of control issues.
  • Support senior leadership with risk reduction, strategic initiatives, and vendor/service provider relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, Computer Science, or a related field with a strong academic record.
  • MBA, M.S. in Operations, or another advanced degree is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Director of Operations at an alternative asset firm or family office.
  • Hands-on experience managing and overseeing daily operations of a leading alternative asset firm or family office.
  • Strong knowledge of multiple asset classes, security types, financial instruments, investment strategies, and capital markets.
  • Detailed understanding of trade processing, settlement, and investment workflows.
  • Extensive knowledge of investment management technology, including fund accounting software, market data tools, performance and attribution applications, and reconciliation programs.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, team, and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and initiative.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work across all levels of the firm.
