Description

  • Conduct operational best-practice reviews and develop practical action plans.
  • Advise clients on vendor selection, oversight, and service-provider relationships.
  • Create and implement operational policies, procedures, and control measures.
  • Lead day-to-day operations, including the full trade lifecycle, accounting, recordkeeping, settlement, and issue resolution.
  • Manage, mentor, evaluate, and develop operations staff, including performance objectives and compensation recommendations.
  • Improve execution through scalable, efficient processes, analytics, and operational value creation.
  • Oversee the operations control environment, identify operational risks, and recommend improvements to senior management.
  • Lead attestation and audit processes, test internal controls, and ensure timely issue remediation.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable local, state, and federal securities laws and regulations.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert on fund accounting, performance, reconciliations, and related systems and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, Computer Science, or a related field with a strong academic record.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Director of Operations at an alternative asset firm or family office.
  • Hands-on experience managing daily operations for an alternative asset firm or family office.
  • Strong knowledge of multiple asset classes, security types, financial instruments, investment strategies, capital markets, and trade settlement.
  • Extensive knowledge of investment management technology, including fund accounting software, market-data tools, performance and attribution applications, and settlement and reconciliation systems.
  • Experience overseeing reconciliations with third-party administrators and prime brokers.
  • Knowledge of operational controls, audits, regulatory compliance, and operational-risk management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, team-management, and time-management abilities across multiple deadlines.
  • High attention to detail, initiative, interpersonal skills, and an entrepreneurial, collaborative approach.
  • MBA, M.S. in Operations, or another advanced degree is preferred.
